1970 Ford Falcon XW XY

On eBay is a very reasonable and original 6 cylinder XW Falcon from the 1970's, it was an amazing beginning for the birth of the worlds fastest production car to come being the XY Falcon GTHO 351. This vehicle still remains a very good and reliable driver apart from a few flaws shown in the photo's, this car has been a much loved rebuild for an enthusiast that did not have the time or money to complete what he started and unfortunate the vehicle is here to be auctioned. Rarely do you come across a genuine classic Falcon of this era where the major body structure is of excellent calibre such as this one. The original interior condition as you see is all untouched.

The history of this vehicle was first sold in Beaudesert Qld on the 27/04/1970 it comes with a partial maintenance schedule handbook showing past services done early years of its life and record to verify it's authenticity, proof of first purchase etc.
This classic car, is as you see and by no means perfect or as new condition.

BODY & PAINT:

The paint work is in very nice order showing no wear. It is a lovely deep solid turquoise in colour gloss and looks impressive. There are no dents, chips, scuffs or otherwise as seen in photos and very straight car – this is a very attractive car for its age. All panels line up correctly and the seller can find no evidence that the car has ever been accident damaged only for the slight damage to front bar. The receipts show this vehicle was painted in 06/07, rust removal and re-plated sills. However the seller makes note there are now signs of rust bubbles as shown in close up photos above. (Behind LR wheel arch where chrome strip goes, the bottom section of LF door and last the bottom section of RF door) Last the chrome trim on left side is missing LR wheel arch mould.

TRIM & INTERIOR

Is original and in poor to average condition for age, showing all signs of wear and tear. The front seat needs re upholstering, the rear seat at top back rest support. The carpets are very average, dash needs replacing and top of door trims showing wear. Relative to over 40 year old!! The seller suggests a full makeover in the interior department would complete this beauty to be a great everyday driver.

MECHANICAL

The XW Falcon is quite good on the road. Running the 221cc 6 cylinder, column automatic, it seems to maintain a consistent operating temperature, it is not using any fluids, there are no warning lights illuminated on the dash, the gearbox is good, the brakes are heavy at the pedal and the seller thinks it could do with bleeding, the steering is very sharp and there are no knocks or clunks in the suspension, but has the 70’s Falcon squeak. The car behaves quite well on the road and seems to drive nice at higher speeds though pleasingly the car has just had a substantial amount of money spent in reconditioning the engine and replacement engine mounts, new front end components and suspension, twin exhaust with nice note. So these common issues will not need to be dealt with by the new owner. The issues that the seller will make note of is speedometer is not working and reads 76888, horn or reverse lights not working also, left rear seatbelt too. So this XW does need some attention in this area.

WHEELS & TYRES

Good condition to complete this XW Falcon is a set of genuine USA weld wheels 3.5 x 15 and 8.5 x 15 rims on tyres about 80% tread giving the pro street look. The rear gives a very full look and the seller would recommend having the guards professionally rolled as shown sign of rubbing. There are also 4 standard wheels and tyres that are of no use so they can go with vehicle if winning bid would like. The seller suggests the mags on the vehicle now would not pass a RWC being different sizes.

As mentioned previously, the seller advises and welcomes any interested party to come and view vehicle themselves or to send a friend, relative or mechanic in to inspect it on your behalf – being interstate is certainly no excuse. Common sense should tell you that my personal opinions reflected in the above listing and photographs are no substitute for your own detailed inspection and test drive.

This vehicle is currently registered till December 2010 but will be sold unregistered.
